Anti-Semiitsm: Arab World
|
ADL Letter to Egyptian President Mubarak Urging He Speak Out Against Anti-Semitism
|

His Excellency Hosni Mubarak
President of the Arab Republic of Egypt
Heliopolis
Cairo, Egypt
Dear Mr. President:
Now that the final episode of the "Horseman without a Horse" television series aired on National Egyptian Television, we would like to reiterate our deep dismay with the series.
Clearly, the infamous anti-Semitic forgery, the Protocols of the Elders of Zion, was a major element of the program's plot. The Jewish characters were portrayed deviously scheming to keep the contents of this secret book from being revealed in Egypt throughout the 41-part series. Mohamed Sobhi, the creator of the series, fully acknowledged the inclusion of the Protocols, most recently with his statement that: "It honors me very much that I was capable of revealing the great conspiracy aimed at swallowing our beloved nation."
We strongly urge you, especially now after the series has been aired, to speak out specifically against such blatant anti-Semitism that can only further Egyptian hatred and incitement toward Jews.

Sincerely,
Abraham H. Foxman
