New York, N.Y., September 10, 2001 ... The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) today said it was "appalled" by crude stereotypical comments about Jews made by Hot 97 DJ Troi Torain, also known as "Star" on the "Star and Buckwild" morning show.

The ADL New York Regional Office issued the following statement:

We are appalled by the unwarranted and offensive stereotypical statements about Jews made by Troi Torain this morning during his radio show on Hot 97 FM.

Torain's blatant disregard for taste and decency has been shown before. Today was his first day back from a station-imposed suspension for making crude comments and sound effects related to the death of pop singer Aaliyah.

Offensive language such as this should not be tolerated and should be condemned.
