ADL Condemns Congressman Tancredo's Threats as Un-American
Denver, July 20, 2005 ... The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) strongly condemned Rep. Tom Tancredo's threat to blow up Muslim Holy sites in the event of a nuclear attack on America by Islamic extremists, calling it "outrageous, inflammatory and un-American."
Bruce H. DeBoskey, ADL Mountain States Regional Director, issued the following statement:
Congressman Tom Tancredo's comments threatening to blow up Muslim Holy sites in the event America suffers a nuclear attack by Muslim extremists are outrageous, inflammatory and un-American. Although the threat of Islamist extremist terrorism is real, as we recently witnessed in London, Congressman Tancredo should know that extremists come in all faiths, and do not reflect the values and beliefs of the vast majority of the members of the religious groups to which they belong.
The Congressman's inflammatory comments do nothing to advance America's role in the world as the leading voice for tolerance and religious freedom and should be soundly condemned.
The Anti-Defamation League, founded in 1913, is the world's leading organization fighting anti-Semitism through programs and services that counteract hatred, prejudice and bigotry.
