ADL Experts Available On New Black Panther Party As Civil Rights Commission Looks Into Voter Intimidation

New York, NY, April 21, 2010 ... The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) has experts available for interviews on the New Black Panther Party and Samir Shabazz, the virulently racist figure at the center of a U.S. Department of Justice lawsuit over alleged voter intimidation in Philadelphia

The U.S. Civil Rights Commission is scheduled to convene a public hearing in Washington, D.C. related to the charges and the department's handling of the case on April 23.

The New Black Panther Party (NBPP) is the largest organized anti-Semitic and racist Black militant group in America.  The group accuses Jews and Zionists of exerting undue influence over national and world affairs to the detriment of minorities in the U.S. and around the world.

In advance of the Commission hearings, ADL's Center on Extremism, which monitors the NBPP, has released a comprehensive and newly updated online backgrounder on the Party, including information on the voter intimidation case and Samir Shabazz, whose alleged behavior on Election Day 2008 was reflective of a long history of confrontational behavior.

According to ADL, Shabazz regularly preaches racial separation, makes incendiary statements about white people, and promotes anti-police messages in the media and on the streets of Philadelphia.

The Anti-Defamation League, founded in 1913, is the world's leading organization fighting anti-Semitism through programs and services that counteract hatred, prejudice and bigotry.
