ADL Condemns Desecration of Muslim Grave at Evergreen Park Cemetery
August 17, 2012, Chicago, IL… The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) today condemned vandalism at the Evergreen Park Cemetery in Chicago, where a Muslim grave was reportedly defaced with anti-Muslim graffiti.
"We deplore this disturbing apparent act of bigotry, which is an affront to the entire Muslim community and the community at large," said Lonnie Nasatir, ADL Chicago Regional Director. "We commend the Evergreen Park Police for its quick response and for investigating the incident as a possible hate crime. We also urge members of the Evergreen Park community to speak out and to declare that such hate-filled actions are unacceptable."
The League continues to be in contact with law enforcement as the investigation proceeds.
