ADL Appalled By Calls to Murder Gays

Jerusalem, July 11, 2006 …The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) is deeply appalled by the reported message of fliers appearing around Jerusalem calling for the murder of gays.

The fliers, signed by the unknown group "Red Hand for Redemption," were circulated with promises of a NIS 20,000 bounty to anyone who "causes the death of a sodomite."

They also included instructions on how to make petrol bombs and urged people to throw them on a World Pride parade scheduled to take place in Jerusalem on August 10.

ADL's Israel Office issued the following statement:

The Anti-Defamation League is appalled by and totally rejects as unacceptable this incitement to violence of one group toward another.

ADL commends those who have spoken out against this bigoted rhetoric and provocation. We have confidence that the law enforcement agencies will track down those behind this instigation and will see to their prosecution to the full extent of the law.

The Anti-Defamation League, founded in 1913, is the world's leading organization fighting anti-Semitism through programs and services that counteract hatred, prejudice and bigotry.
