ADL Condemns Haifa Synagogue Vandalism as Hate Crime
Jerusalem, September 30, 2007 … The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) strongly condemned the burning of a synagogue sukka in Haifa and the spray painting of a swastika on the synagogue door.
Vandals attacked the Naveh David synagogue before dawn on September 30:
ADL's Israel Office issued the following statement:
The Anti-Defamation League condemns the anti-Semitic vandalism of the Naveh David congregation in Haifa. This is an awful hate crime. Sadly it follows a number of other recent anti-Semitic acts of vandalism in the city of Haifa where Nazi slogans and symbols have been painted.
ADL has been in touch with the synagogue and Haifa police regarding this incident. We are aware that the police are investigating this as a possible hate crime perpetrated by neo-Nazis. We encourage anyone with information about this vandalism to come forward.
The Anti-Defamation League, founded in 1913, is the world's leading organization fighting anti-Semitism through programs and services that counteract hatred, prejudice and bigotry.
