Basketball Brings Arab and Jewish Teenagers on the Same Court
Jerusalem, December 2, 2007 … Some 150 Arab and Jewish teenagers participated over the weekend in a one-day basketball tournament dubbed "Streetball Hafla" in the Galilee village of Ta'amra.
Under the slogan of coexistence and tolerance, the Anti-Defamation League teamed up with the Ministry of Science, Culture and Sports to bring together the teenagers from 13 villages and communities.
The youth competed in mixed teams in the project, which was made possible by a generous donation by the Saltman Center for Conflict Resolution. The event was a continuation of a three-day Streetball Hafla summer camp held this past summer.
The Anti-Defamation League, founded in 1913, is the world's leading organization fighting anti-Semitism through programs and services that counteract hatred, prejudice and bigotry.
