Jerusalem, December 22, 2008 …The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) today strongly condemned the desecration of the Hassan Bek mosque, near the Jaffa Port.  As they arrived for services Sunday, Muslim worshippers discovered graffiti on the doors that read, "Muhammad is a pig" and "Death to the Arabs."

ADL's Israel Office issued the following statement:

We strongly condemn this act of desecration of a Muslim mosque.  Hate crimes targeting holy sites and places of worship are unacceptable and have no place in Israel.  Any form of anti-Muslim incitement should be condemned by all Israelis.

We are confident that Israeli law enforcement will make all efforts to track down the perpetrators of this criminal act and bring them to justice.   Their prosecution will send a message that anyone who attacks a place of worship in the Holy Land will suffer the consequences of their actions.
