ADL Condemns Arson Attack Against West Bank Mosque

Jerusalem, June 7, 2011 … The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) today forcefully condemned an arson attack against a West Bank mosque.   Police suspect that extremist Israeli Jews threw burning tires into the mosque in Al Mughayyir, near Ramallah, and also left behind graffiti.  Extremists have perpetrated similar acts of vandalism toward West Bank mosques in the past year.

ADL's Israel Office issued the following statement:

We join with leaders of Israel's government and civil society in forcefully condemning this act of hate.

Violence and the desecration of religious sites are unacceptable ways to express political opposition and must not be tolerated by democratic societies.

We hope the perpetrators of this attack will be identified and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
