ADL Statement on 'The Goods: Live Hard, Sell Hard'
New York, NY, August 18, 2009 … The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) issued the following statement about the new film, "The Goods: Live Hard, Sell Hard."
After viewing a promotional trailer for the new comedy film, "The Goods: Live Hard, Sell Hard" we take issue with a scene employing the use of a racial slur and the staging of a hate crime.
The term "Japs" is derogatory and, like all slurs, not only affects those targeted but reinforces negative stereotypes. Hate crimes tear at the fabric of society and negatively impact communities.
Neither should be used as satirical fodder.
The Anti-Defamation League, founded in 1913, is the world's leading organization fighting anti-Semitism through programs and services that counteract hatred, prejudice and bigotry.
