Anti-Semitism
fallout from speech by mahathir mohamad
Posted: October 24, 2003

Speaking at the Organization of the Islamic Conference on October 16, 2003, Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad of Malaysia told the assembly of leaders of 57 nations that Jews “rule the world by proxy” and “get others to fight and die for them.” He called for a “final victory” by the world’s 1.3 billion Muslims, who, he said “cannot be defeated by a few million Jews."

Reaction of U.S. Extremists

America's extremist fringe publicized and celebrated Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad's anti-Semitic remarks at the Organization of Islamic Conference. The response by domestic anti-Semites - united in their belief that Jews exercise power by proxy - was almost immediate

On the widely visited Web forum sponsored by the extreme-right web site Stormfront, visitors have been encouraged since the day of the speech to call the Malaysian embassy - the number is provided - and express support for Mahathir. Here are examples of several postings:
  • "We are the victims of Zionist enslavement and are crippled on a daily basis as proxy fighters for international Zionism."
  • "Call in and express your support for the truthful remarks made by the Malay PM which our own sellout white traitor politicians wouldn't dare speak!!!!!!"
  • "Jews are jamming the phone lines of the Malaysian embassy in opposition to the truth about themselves…"
Web forum sponsored by the hate music label Resistance Records, which is owned by the virulently anti-Semitic National Alliance, visitors are also encouraged to call the Malaysian embassy express support for Mahathir. Here are some of their comments:
  • "The people at the Embassy were very, very happy when they spoke with a National Alliance member from Florida that called and did just that."
  • "We need another 1,000 people to call….Please do this, if you can't take the time to make a simple phone call to save your race you should think about your reasons for being here."
The neo-Nazi National Alliance said that Mahathir's comments "certainly sound like a good idea. Many Aryans through the National Alliance have been organizing to free our people from being the Jews' proxies." On the same Web page, a headline for an article about U.S. troops in Iraq was titled, "Jewish Proxies Suffer Low Morale."

Anti-Semitic Web journalist Alex Linder said of Mahathir's speech: "Silly Muslims. If they were free like we Americans, they wouldn't say things like that. And by 'wouldn't,' I mean couldn't. Let's bomb them….1/3 of U.S. troops say morale low, and half ready to quit (sic). Why? Because they aren't defending the U.S., as they signed on to, but are prosecuting aggressive, illegal war on behalf of the hate state Israel….we are going to have to kill the jews controlling the country."

La Voz de Aztlan, an anti-Semitic extremist group which produces online propaganda advocating Hispanic nationalism and vilifying Jews, said that because of Mahathir's speech "the globe's Muslim nations now realize that the 'War against Islam' by the United States is actually being orchestrated by the extremely powerful 'Bush Zionist Cabal' and USA Jewry….They have accomplished 'World Domination' mostly through their control of the international banking system and the international media."
