|Arab Cartoons Distort President Obama's Relationship with Israel and American Jews
In the days following the meeting between President Barack Obama and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on March 5, 2012, and President Obama's address to the annual AIPAC conference, newspapers across the Arab world featured political cartoons on the anti-Semitic theme of Jewish/Israeli control of American foreign policy and the American political system.
These cartoons depict President Obama as a puppet or mouthpiece of Israel, or the so-called "Zionist lobby," and show Israel and Jews controlling the ballot boxes for the upcoming U.S. presidential election. The age-old anti-Semitic allegation of Jews manipulating and controlling governments frequently appears in caricatures and articles in newspapers across the Arab and Muslim world.
