"The billing department prepared an overdue-payment notice for our
Spanish-speaking customers - and it was a disaster. It sounded as we were threatening them. We know we
offended our clients. How can we make sure this doesn't happen again?"
A WORKPLACE OF DIFFERENCE is designed by experienced human
relations specialists for corporations, small businesses, government agencies, nonprofit
organizations and professional groups who face the challenges of satisfying a changing
customer base while managing a diverse workforce. The Center for immigration Studies
reports that by the turn of the century; one-third of all U.S. citizens will be members of
what have traditionally been referred to as minorities. In addition, an increasingly
diverse customer base may look for products that suit widely divergent individual tastes,
needs and style.
The program provides the following:
Examines concepts of stereotypes and assumptions
Helps participants assess their perceptions about themselves and others
Explores the concept of culture
Determines how diversity enhances the workplace while demanding some behavioral changes
for more productivity and higher customer satisfaction
A WORKPLACE OF DIFFERENCE has provided more than 100,000 adults in the public and
private sector with skills to improve communication, reduce conflict and enhance
productivity in a diverse workplace.
