Early Childhood

Research reveals that infants as young as eight months can detect differences in the people around them. By the time children are two; they have already been exposed to many social imprints. ADL's ground breaking early childhood programs are helping both preschool teachers and parents educate two- to four-year-olds so they may learn to accept diversity.

Both the Miller Early Childhood Initiative and the ALL TOGETHER! Early Childhood Activity Kit aim to teach respect and appreciation of diversity among the early childhood community through innovative visual aids, learning and activity workbooks and workshops. Through the stories of Dr. Seuss and with the collaboration of the Sesame Workshop, the ADL is working towards creating hate-free childhood schools, homes and communities.

ALL TOGETHER! Early Childhood Activity Kit

  • With materials designed by ADL's A WORLD OF DIFFERENCETM Institute and with financial support from the Pritzker Cousins Foundation, this program was created specifically for preschool teachers.

  • Activity kits designed specifically for preschooler teachers to use in their programs. With the assistance of visual aids, a learning and activity workbook and The Sneetches and Other Stories by Dr. Seuss, teachers and children interact and learn to appreciate and learn from each other's differences.

  • The Kits may be provided through anti-bias workshops offered by ADL regional offices or purchased separately on ADL's online Catalog.

  • The goal of ALL TOGETHER! Early Childhood Activity Kit is to create and sustain healthy early childhood classroom and home environments free from hatred and intolerance.

  • One educator, after participating in the program commented:
This workshop helped me to realize the things I need to integrate into the preschool classroom. Besides fostering acceptance of diversity, the lessons promoted the children's self-esteem and made me think about my own biases."

  • Established in 1992, the Pritzker Cousins Foundation focuses its charitable funding in the early childhood development field. The foundation uses their charitable donations to support programs concentrating to counteract hatred, prejudice and bigotry.

The ALL TOGETHER! Early Childhood Activity Kit can be ordered online.
