U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (531 U.S. 159 (2001)): This case addessed the validity of the "cumulative impact" or "aggregation" principle for determining the constitutionality of a statute under the Commerce Clause, which forms the basis of much civil rights legislation. As a leading civil rights organization, ADL maintained that the rule provided an essential foundation for the basic civil rights guaranteed by the Constitution.
