1. Solid Waste Agency of Northern Cook County v. U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (531 U.S. 159 (2001)): This case addessed the validity of the "cumulative impact" or "aggregation" principle for determining the constitutionality of a statute under the Commerce Clause, which forms the basis of much civil rights legislation. As a leading civil rights organization, ADL maintained that the rule provided an essential foundation for the basic civil rights guaranteed by the Constitution. The Court decided the controversy on other grounds and thereby left the "cumulative impact" principle intact.
