The Protocols of the Elders of Zion - The Syrian interpretation
Following are excerpts from an article published in al-Baath, the official
newspaper of the Syrian regime (al-Baath Internet edition, 10 May 2002), under
the heading “A research on Zionist ideology clearly proves that Zionism
is merely a blatant manifestation of racist symptoms”. The author of the
article, Wahib Saray al-Din, uses the Protocols of the Elders of Zion as reference,
and claims that they reflect the Zionist ideology:
“This racist attitude, which overshadows Hitler’s nazism, derives
from the Zionist ideology, and more specifically from the writings of the Old
Testament and the Talmud. A Zionist book that best reflects the extreme hate
nurtured towards the entire human race is the Protocols of the Elders of Zion.
This book is well known and has been widely studied. Yet, it ought to be constantly
re-written. Any person who has leafed through it, feels that he has caught a
glimpse of a vicious and frightening philosophy, devoid of any signs of morality
and humanitarian sense.”
“This book contains a message of hate and enmity against humanity, and
of the ambition to gain control over all its resources. It in fact summarizes
the barbarian Zionist legacy, in a period in which the inhumane ideology of
Zionism is gaining strength and further developing its scheme of destroying
the world and using it for its own interests and influence, and is actually
paving the road towards achieving full control of the world.”
“The book is comprised of 24 chapters, which were formulated during the
first Zionist Congress that took place in Basle in 1897, under the chairmanship
of Herzl. It was attended by 300 rabbinical people, who approved the scheme
of gaining control over the world and subjugating it. Their slogan was “Judaism
above everything”. The members of the steering committee resolved to adopt
the snake as the symbol of the Zionist movement…”
The author of the article then proceeds to analyze the Protocols, whose aim according
to him is to “destroy all religions”, “enslave all nations”
and “undermine the economies of the entire world” - all of which is
to be achieved by causing dissent, advocating corrupt values, misleading the young
generations and promoting violence, warfare, hatred, death, famine, poverty, disease
and alcoholism.
