To the Editor:
Re: "In Interview, Arafat's Wife Praises Suicide Bombings" (April 15). Suha Arafat is not alone in her praise for suicide terrorists. Leaders of moderate Arab regimes continue to express support for the wanton killing of Israeli civilians.
In the most recent example, the Saudi ambassador to Britain, Ghazi Algosaibi, glorified suicide bombers with the euphemism "martyrs" in a poem on the front page of the London-based newspaper, al-Hayat. Meanwhile, the Saudis are making excuses for a recent telethon that raised $92 million with frequent references to Palestinian "martyrs."
Peace in the region will remain an elusive goal until the Arab leadership stops the incitement, rejects the culture of suicide bombers, and leads their people away from terrorism.
