The President signed into law today a measure providing $2.82 billion in economic and military aid to Israel for fiscal year 2001. The $840 million in economic and $1.98 billion in military assistance incorporate Israel's plan to phase out economic aid with some increase in military aid. The final version of the bill passed the Senate by 65-27 and the House by 307-101on October 25.
