The sixteenth session of ADL's Advanced Training School (ATS) course on Extremist and Terrorist Threats was held December 6-8, 2009, in Washington, DC.  ATS provides law enforcement professionals with information, resources and contacts to increase their capabilities in combating threats.

The sixteenth session of the course was attended by 33 senior law enforcement professions from federal, state and local agencies from across the country.  The class included participants from the Federal Bureau of Investigation; Central Intelligence Agency Security Protective Service; Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms & Explosives; Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department; Washington, DC Metropolitan Police Department; Denver Police Department; Atlanta Police Department; Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department; and Illinois State Police; among others.

Presentations were given by experts from the ADL, law enforcement, the military, academia, and the Israel Police.

Commander Jack DaLuz of the Aurora (CO) Police Department commented on the training saying: "This is overall the best, most intense, well organized specialized training I have ever attended…The information provided will be of great assistance in preparing our agency to deal with…hateful acts." And Lieutenant Bob Glover of the Washington, DC Metropolitan Police Department stated: "This is perhaps one of the most beneficial training programs that I've had the opportunity to participate in during my LE career…Truly amazing!!!"

Launched in January 2003, the Advanced Training School has trained over 580 senior level law enforcement personnel, representing more than 200 different agencies to date.
