ADL held the eighteenth session of our Advanced Training School (ATS) on Extremist and Terrorist Threats from December 5-7 in Washington, DC.  The program, established in 2003, provides law enforcement professionals with state of the art training, information, resources and contacts to increase their capabilities in combating domestic and international terrorist threats.  The most recent session of the course included a briefing by Michael Chertoff, the former Secretary of the US Department of Homeland Security, and by Commander Alon Assour of the Israel Police.  ADL experts also shared our information and expertise in both domestic and international terrorism.

Robert Bodisch, the Assistant Director of the Texas Department of Public Safety who participated in the most recent program, said that the course "will ultimately save lives and better prepare law enforcement to combat extremist groups and terrorists."  Major John Keohane of the Richmond Police Department described it as "one of the best training schools in my 27 years of law enforcement."

The December 2010 session was attended by 38 executives and commanders from major federal, state and local law enforcement agencies from across the country, including: the Federal Bureau of Investigation; US Immigration and Customs Enforcement; US Customs and Border Protection; US Park Police; California Highway Patrol; Texas Department of Public Safety; and the Chicago, Philadelphia, Houston, Detroit, Dallas, Phoenix, Las Vegas, and Atlanta Police Departments. ATS has trained a total of more than 650 law enforcement, representing over 220 agencies to date.
