ADL Trains South Carolina Law Enforcement
Posted: July 20, 2009
Law enforcement officers from across South Carolina heard from an Anti-Defamation League expert on right-wing extremism and domestic terrorism.
Approximately 330 South Carolina law enforcement officers attended the ADL presentations as part of the LECC (Law Enforcement Coordinating Committee) Anti-Terrorism for South Carolina Law Enforcement Conference on "Terrorists in our State" in North Charleston, Hartsville, Columbia and Greenville.
The LECCs are each coordinated by a staff member of the U.S. Attorney's Office, and involve federal, state, and local agencies.
The ADL expert addressed national white supremacist trends, ideologies, and criminal activities, and then focused on local South Carolina and Southeast extremist activity, hate symbols and tattoos to assist law enforcement in recognizing extremists and their activities in their area.
