Ted Pike/National Prayer Network - Background

Claude Pike (Ted’s father), along with his two sons Ted and John, founded the National Prayer Network in 1979; Pike claims that the organization was borne out of his family’s advocacy for a National Day of Prayer. However, anti-Semitism has been the core of the group’s ideology since its founding. Claude Pike heavily influenced his son, who carries on his father’s legacy of anti-Semitism, as he leads the group today. (The elder Pike passed away in 2004.)

Pike’s first book Israel: Our Duty…Our Dilemma (1984), exposed him as a virulent anti-Semite. Alleging the existence of a Jewish conspiracy for world domination, Pike wrote that “we see Jews today not only erecting a commercial world empire, but pouring filth out upon the nations through the movie and television media and spearheading and abetting all forms of left-wing and Antichrist radicalism.”

Following distribution of Israel: Our Duty…Our Dilemma into the “evangelical camp,” Pike announced: “Now we are producing a fascinating hour-long television documentary which will summarize my book in a spellbinding way.” Pike’s “documentary” 1987 video, The Other Israel, further exemplified his attempt to advance an anti-Semitic agenda behind the curtain of legitimate criticism of Israel; although purportedly about Israel, Pike’s professionally produced video misrepresented Jewish theology and history and propagated long-time anti-Semitic myths.
