Malik Zulu Shabazz Speaks at Carnegie Mellon University

Posted: February 23, 2005

New Black Panther National Chairman Malik Zulu Shabazz vilified Jews and white people during a speech at Carnegie Mellon University on February 17.  The event was sponsored by Spirit, a multicultural group at the university.

Shabazz addressed several issues relating to Jews and Israel during his nearly three-hour address. He declared that "Zionism is terrorism" and called Israel a "terrorist state." He said that "you cannot be a real Jew and a Zionist at the same time," and frequently referred to "so-called Jews" and "quote-unquote Jews."

"The people you see in Israel today are not the true original Jews," he said.

Shabazz also alleged that the Talmud teaches that "black people are cursed" and Jewish rabbis "set the stage for the African holocaust."

He contended that "the very nature of white people" creates problems in the world.

Shabazz endorsed various books from the podium, including The Secret Relationship Between Blacks and Jews, a Nation of Islam publication that argues that the history of slavery in the New World was dominated by Jewish ship owners and merchants; The International Jew, a four-volume anti-Semitic work first published in the 1920s by Henry Ford; and Secrets of the Federal Reserve, by the veteran anti-Semitic and racist writer Eustace Mullins.

Shabazz also announced that Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan asked him to co-convene the Million Man March's 10th Anniversary Rally in Washington DC in October 2005.
