Two juries in Orange County, California, have convicted a pair of tattooed self-proclaimed white supremacists for the 2004 murder of a 54-year-old South Asian convenience store clerk in Irvine.
On March 13, 2008, an Irvine jury convicted white supremacist Travis Justin Frazier, 25, of Tustin, of first-degree murder for his role in the killing, as well as attempted first-degree robbery with several sentencing enhancements. He faces a potential sentence of life in prison without possibility of parole.
Earlier, on March 4, 2008, a jury in Orange County Superior Court convicted Frazier's co-defendant and fellow white supremacist, Spencer William Fox, 24, for beating and stabbing the clerk to death.
Fox was convicted of first-degree murder plus the special circumstances of murder during the commission of an attempted robbery. He faces the possibility of life without parole at his sentencing.
Surveillance videos showed the men entering the convenience store and beating the victim on the head with a metal flashlight. The cameras caught Fox stabbing the victim, followed by the men trying to compel the unconscious man to open the cash register to give them the money. The men were subsequently seen laughing and fleeing the scene after realizing the victim was dead.
Security guards near the store observed the white supremacists as they left. One followed the men, while the other entered the store. Police arriving on the scene used a canine unit to locate one of the suspects, while the second was arrested later.
