New York White Supremacist Arrested for Attacking Hispanic Teen

Posted: September 24, 2009

Ramapo police detectives have arrested an 18-year-old white supremacist from Montebello for allegedly attacking a 17-year-old Hispanic male.

According to the Rockland County District Attorney Thomas Zugibe, Michael Conklin was wearing a shirt with a swastika on the arm and Ku Klux Klan insignia on the back when he shot the victim three times with a BB gun on September 7, 2009.  He was charged with second-degree felony assault as a hate crime.

At the time of this arrest, Conklin was out on bail pending charges for the alleged hate crime assault of another Hispanic male in March.

In April, Ramapo police detectives arrested Conklin and four others for allegedly shouting "white power" while beating up a Hispanic male in Sloatsburg in March.  Conklin, Benjamin Knowles, 17, Andrew Statham, 18, and Michael Lorelli, 17, all of Suffern, and Michael Polloni, 17, of Sloatsburg, were charged with one count each of felony second-degree assault as a hate crime.

Conklin is additionally facing a misdemeanor charge of second-degree criminal trespass regarding an incident at a home in Airmont in August.
