White Supremacists Sentenced for Phoenix Murder

Posted: May 29, 2007

A Maricopa County judge handed out lengthy sentences on May 25, 2007, to white supremacists Samuel Compton, 27, and Christopher Whitley, 25, after the two pleaded guilty to second-degree murder.

Compton and Whitley, both with ties to the neo-Nazi National Alliance, kicked and beat to death a 20-year-old man outside of a pool hall in Phoenix, Arizona, in October 2002.  The two and a third man, Justin LaRue, had been kicked out of the pool hall and encountered the victim standing outside in the parking lot waiting for a taxi.  The three attacked him shortly thereafter.

Compton received a sentence of 22 years in prison, Whitley 21 years.  LaRue, 29, had previously been sentenced to 16 years in prison.

Compton and Whitley were tape-recorded in telephone calls from the jail laughing about the victim's funeral.
