A white supremacist pleaded guilty in February to beating an elderly African-American man in Yuba County, California.
Billy James Hammett, 21, of Olivehurst, pleaded guilty in Yuba County Superior Court to assault with a deadly weapon with force likely to produce great bodily injury and committing the crime to promote Supreme White Power, a white supremacist prison gang.
Another man was originally charged with beating and kicking the 72-year-old victim last September, but was freed after Hammett admitted committing the crime.
Hammett is scheduled to be sentenced in April and faces up to six years in prison under a plea agreement with the District Attorney’s Office.
