Al Qaeda No. 2 Again Threatens Jews Worldwide

Posted: February 26, 2009

In an audio message released on February 22, 2009, Ayman al-Zawahiri, Al Qaeda’s second in command, calls for attacks against Jews all over the world.

In his latest audiotape message, produced by Al Qaeda’s media wing Al Sahab and titled “From Kabul to Mogadishu,” Zawahiri urges the mujahideen to attack Jews all over the world, saying “Crusader and Jewish targets are spread all over the world, and it is not for the enemy to impose on us the field, place, time and way in which we fight him.”

Zawahiri also explains that “the entire world is our field against the targets of the Zionist Crusade.”  Jihad is necessary, according to Zawahiri, in order to “liberate Palestine and all homelands of Islam.”

Zawahiri condemns America several times in the message, saying “America is the enemy of Islam and Muslims.”  He claims that America’s involvement in Somalia is an attempt to create a “government which submits to American demands” and praises the “widening of the mujahideen’s influence in Somalia,” urging Muslims in Somalia to reject a secularist government that is being proposed by America and the United Nations.

Zawahiri also urges Muslim Afghanis to join the “Taliban in Jihad against the American Crusader occupation” and criticizes the leaders of Yemen for working with America, claiming that they “beg the pleasure of the Americans and their dollars by spilling the blood of the free, noble and honest men of the Yemen.”

Zawahiri’s message is the latest in a series of messages released by Al Qaeda leaders threatening Israel and Jews.
