Youth for Western Civilization (YWC), a national student organization that straddles the line between mainstream and extreme views, plans to hold its first national conference in the Washington, D.C, area in June 2011, in an effort to open more chapters at campuses across the country.

Campuses that currently have a YWC presence

  • Vanderbilt University (Tennessee)
  • Liberty University (Virginia)
  • Washington State University
  • American University (Washington, D.C.)
  • Providence College (Rhode Island)
  • University of Idaho
  • Boise State University (Idaho)
  • University of Rhode Island
  • Arizona State University
  • College of William & Mary (Virginia)
  • Colorado State University
  • University of Utah

The group is dedicated to promoting and preserving "Western Civilization." In YWC's hands, this term is a thinly veiled euphemism for white culture. YWC has adopted a strategy of cloaking racial views in cultural terms, presumably to make it more palatable to other students and to the public. In some ways, the YWC's approach to racial issues is of more concern than that used by blatant white supremacists because YWC can attract more young people to its cause with subtle messaging.

Although YWC tries to present itself as a merely conservative organization, it has close ties to white supremacists. The group has offered an important and highly desirable platform to white supremacist Richard Spencer by inviting him to speak on two different college campuses. YWC has also carried out a fund-raising campaign in conjunction with white supremacist Jared Taylor who runs the racist magazine American Renaissance. In their joint fund-raising effort, both Taylor and YWC appealed to constituents on Taylor's mailing list to help support and fund YWC.

The group has also attracted the attention of dozens of other white supremacists, who enthusiastically support YWC's platform and have "friended" the group on Facebook. Posters on Stormfront, the largest white supremacist Internet forum in the country, have also endorsed YWC as a valuable tool for promoting "white pride."
