During the rally demonstrators threw stones at the police, who fired tear gas.

·         February 16, 2007. Sheik Hasan Nasrallah, Hezbollah secretary general, spoke about the Israeli excavation during a rally in Beirut:

"Today Al Aksa Mosque is threatened because excavations around it may weaken the foundations of this holy place. Look at what is happening in the world. Al Aksa Mosque is threatened but the Quartet meets and says we will not cooperate with the Palestinian national unity government or recognize it unless it recognizes Israel. This is said at a time when the holy places of the nation and Muslims are in danger."
