Prince Harry's Nazi costume is a sad reminder that in many countries, even those most devastated by World War II in Europe, education about that period is woefully lacking among today's young people ("A Prince Who Forgot History Angers Many," Jan. 14).
As Europe becomes farther removed from the events of the war, and as there are fewer survivors to bear witness to Nazi atrocities, there must be an intensification of education about the war and the Holocaust for Harry and his generation.
Harry's foibles may be good fodder for the tabloid news, but one hopes his actions will serve as a wake-up call that the lessons of the Holocaust haven't been learned or understood. Maybe it takes a prince to reveal the depth of ignorance.
