Explorations

Last Updated, July 15, 1996

This section of the Militia Watchdog contains articles that provide personal impressions of various events or occurrences related to the so-called "patriot" movement. Generally speaking, the Militia Watchdog does not have the time or resources to do this very often, and relies heavily in its news reports and "patriot" profiles on the commendable efforts of those journalists or monitors who do. However, even the Watchdog does a little personal watching every now and then, and here are some of the results. All the articles within are by Mark Pitcavage.

bullet Welcome to a New World (Disorder): A Visit to a Gun Show. This article describes the politicization of gun shows as they become less and less a place to buy and sell guns and more and more a way for the extreme right to distribute its message and attract recruits.
bullet The Martyrdom of Michael Hill: A Visit to a Militia Memorial Service. This article describes a memorial service for Michael Hill, an Ohio common law court and neo-militia activist who was slain in the summer of 1995 by a police officer. The Christian Identity connections are particularly interesting.
